Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Financial Services and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.62%, while the MDAX index added 1.01%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 3.10% or 0.650 points to trade at 21.615 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 1.94% or 0.200 points to end at 10.505 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was up 1.74% or 1.320 points to 76.990 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which lost 0.36% or 0.240 points to trade at 66.280 in late trade. Merck KGaA (DE:MRK) declined 0.03% or 0.030 points to end at 96.420 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) shed 0.03% or 0.020 points to 77.680.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 6.22% to 29.795, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was up 2.92% to settle at 123.200 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which gained 2.75% to close at 49.345.
The worst performers were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 1.95% to 49.955 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 1.12% to settle at 101.700 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 0.28% to 27.035 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 12.53% to 18.100, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was up 3.76% to settle at 6.312 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 3.57% to close at 40.590.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 4.25% to 32.010 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 1.25% to settle at 9.578 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 0.65% to 38.150 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 603 to 278 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.53% or 7.15 to $1355.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.82% or 1.32 to hit $48.11 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 0.91 to trade at $50.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8625.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 94.27.
