Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which rose 4.69% or 137.5 points to trade at 3069.5 at the close. ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) added 4.55% or 91.5 points to end at 2104.5 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) was up 4.36% or 7.25 points to 173.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 6.00% or 12100 points to trade at 189700 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.32% or 1.87 points to end at 78.69 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) shed 1.52% or 14.0 points to 910.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 117 to 106 and 14 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.41% to 34.140.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.32% or 4.05 to $1272.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.03% or 0.50 to hit $48.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.35 to trade at $49.63 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.67% to 65.1696, while EUR/RUB rose 0.19% to 73.451.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 94.73.
