Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Producers and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.60%, while the SBF 120 index gained 2.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 4.77% or 2.18 points to trade at 47.90 at the close. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) added 4.66% or 0.73 points to end at 16.50 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 4.59% or 0.182 points to 4.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which lost 1.12% or 0.12 points to trade at 11.06 in late trade. Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 0.01% or 0.01 points to end at 68.33 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) gained 0.03% or 0.01 points to 39.91.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which rose 11.04% to 23.935, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 9.20% to settle at 3.216 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which gained 7.93% to close at 28.500.
The worst performers were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which was down 1.12% to 11.06 in late trade, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which lost 1.06% to settle at 28.86 and Saft (PA:S1A) which was unchanged 0.00% to 36.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 527 to 138 and 98 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.43% to 26.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.72% or 9.45 to $1327.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.90% or 1.39 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.86% or 1.41 to trade at $50.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1103, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.8233.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.80.
