Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 1.46% or 1.14 points to trade at 79.10 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 1.19% or 0.62 points to end at 52.70 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was up 1.07% or 0.17 points to 15.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NN Group (AS:NN), which lost 1.28% or 0.38 points to trade at 29.39 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.10% or 0.23 points to end at 20.75 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 0.74% or 0.035 points to 4.669.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 67 to 56 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.35% to 14.74 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.45% or 0.23 to $51.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.55% or 0.30 to hit $54.47 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.73% or 9.15 to trade at $1249.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.0655, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8541.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 100.57.
