Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 3.84% or 9.98 points to trade at 250.00 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) added 2.39% or 0.31 points to end at 13.30 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) was up 1.22% or 0.73 points to 60.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which lost 5.60% or 1.90 points to trade at 32.25 in late trade. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) declined 2.57% or 0.080 points to end at 3.050 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 1.15% or 0.010 points to 0.860.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 21 to 14 and 63 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.03% or 0.98 to $49.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.85% or 0.95 to hit $52.37 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.25% or 3.15 to trade at $1252.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 3.06% to 331.180, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 99.88.
