Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Oil & Gas and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.18%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW), which rose 2.87% or 2.10 points to trade at 75.25 at the close. Housing Development Finance Corp. (NS:HDFC) added 2.06% or 25.05 points to end at 1240.60 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) was up 2.06% or 1.50 points to 74.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which lost 2.31% or 8.900 points to trade at 377.150 in late trade. Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) declined 2.09% or 435.80 points to end at 20415.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 1.77% or 14.05 points to 779.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which rose 2.07% to 1243.80, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was up 1.16% to settle at 418.35 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 1.08% to close at 298.50.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.24% to 835.35 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.20% to settle at 5141.70 and POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.11% to 182.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 824 to 645 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1495 rose and 1119 declined, while 146 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.06% to 17.1050.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.33% or 3.85 to $1172.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.73% or 0.38 to hit $51.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.35% or 0.19 to trade at $54.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.13% to 67.915, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 73.1480.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 100.12.
