Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Machinery sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Svbi (TW:1786), which rose 9.89% or 6.10 points to trade at 67.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) added 9.89% or 0.81 points to end at 9.00 and Azurewave (TW:3694) was up 9.78% or 1.80 points to 20.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025), which fell 10.00% or 0.18 points to trade at 1.62 at the close. Yoko Tech (TW:6131) declined 9.94% or 0.98 points to end at 8.88 and Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) was down 9.81% or 0.26 points to 2.39.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 639 to 198 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) fell to all time lows; down 10.00% or 0.18 to 1.62. Shares in Yoko Tech (TW:6131) fell to all time lows; falling 9.94% or 0.98 to 8.88.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.73% or 0.30 to $42.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.20% or 0.09 to hit $45.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.38% or 4.10 to trade at $1070.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.60% to 32.578, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.1957.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 99.80.
