Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumption and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 11.08% or 0.47 points to trade at 4.71 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 10.09% or 0.47 points to end at 5.13 and Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) was up 9.52% or 0.24 points to 2.76 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which fell 5.47% or 2.19 points to trade at 37.87 at the close. Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) declined 4.75% or 0.59 points to end at 11.82 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was down 4.40% or 0.41 points to 8.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 161 to 153.
Shares in Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.47% or 2.19 to 37.87.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.48% to 53.11.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.23% or 2.50 to $1106.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.53% or 1.16 to hit $44.76 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.06% or 0.07 to trade at $116.62 .
USD/BRL was up 0.53% to 3.8731, while EUR/BRL rose 1.04% to 4.3908.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 95.18.
