Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.45%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 10.03% or 0.37 points to trade at 4.03 at the close. Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) added 4.49% or 0.98 points to end at 22.82 and Technip (PA:TECF) was up 3.97% or 1.99 points to 51.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which lost 2.88% or 0.47 points to trade at 15.82 in late trade. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) declined 2.30% or 1.06 points to end at 44.99 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) shed 2.19% or 3.40 points to 151.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which rose 10.03% to 4.03, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 7.60% to settle at 6.64 and Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which gained 4.81% to close at 3.27.
The worst performers were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 2.98% to 53.110 in late trade, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which lost 2.88% to settle at 15.82 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 2.87% to 26.385 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 361 to 299 and 110 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.93% to 21.29 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 2.93% or 36.00 to $1265.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.69% or 1.42 to hit $39.88 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.33% or 0.94 to trade at $41.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.88% to 1.1324, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.7815.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 94.73.
