Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Rubber sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 9.93% or 0.83 points to trade at 9.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Nien Hsing Tex (TW:1451) added 9.81% or 2.10 points to end at 23.50 and Calin (TW:4976) was up 9.73% or 1.45 points to 16.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were J Touch (TW:3584), which fell 9.98% or 0.54 points to trade at 4.87 at the close. Casetek (TW:5264) declined 8.91% or 13.50 points to end at 138.00 and Lily Textile (TW:1443) was down 7.90% or 0.43 points to 5.01.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 547 to 292 and 4 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.31% or 0.12 to $36.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.40% or 0.14 to hit $36.69 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.48% or 5.10 to trade at $1073.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.58% to 32.825, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.1978.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.92.
