Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 4.23% or 2.58 points to trade at 61.50 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 2.89% or 0.50 points to end at 17.80 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 1.36% or 0.21 points to 15.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which lost 3.60% or 10.00 points to trade at 270.00 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 3.09% or 0.51 points to end at 15.99 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) shed 2.22% or 0.020 points to 0.880.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 20 to 17 and 52 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.17% or 0.09 to $53.79 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.84 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.83% or 10.05 to trade at $1218.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 3.46% to 340.520, while USD/NGN fell 0.16% to 317.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 99.57.
