Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.89%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Transportation & Logistics and Construction sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.89% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 1.32%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.67%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which rose 4.23% or 1.085 points to trade at 26.725 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 2.89% or 1.820 points to end at 64.710 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was up 2.40% or 1.850 points to 78.910 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 1.84% or 0.230 points to trade at 12.250 at the close. Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG) declined 0.74% or 0.580 points to end at 77.760 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was down 0.58% or 0.055 points to 9.483.

The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 11.66% to 17.530, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 10.40% to settle at 35.630 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which gained 5.60% to close at 69.340.

The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 0.70% to 46.100 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which lost 0.66% to settle at 68.040 and RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was down 0.43% to 75.980 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.15% to 5.250, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was up 4.02% to settle at 25.250 and QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which gained 4.01% to close at 1.684.

The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which was down 2.99% to 233.600 in late trade, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which lost 2.66% to settle at 12.070 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 2.20% to 21.815 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 416 to 257 and 38 ended unchanged.

Shares in Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.40% or 1.850 to 78.910. Shares in Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) rose to 52-week highs; up 11.66% or 1.830 to 17.530.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.61% to 19.53 a new 1-month low.

Gold for December delivery was down 1.00% or 11.80 to $1165.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.05% or 0.95 to hit $45.34 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.43% or 0.69 to trade at $48.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1352, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7344.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 94.96.
