Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.20%, while the MDAX index gained 0.61%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.49% or 2.050 points to trade at 139.500 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 1.46% or 2.200 points to end at 152.600 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 1.15% or 1.040 points to 91.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 2.39% or 0.150 points to trade at 6.130 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 2.32% or 0.775 points to end at 32.625 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 1.84% or 0.225 points to 12.005.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 4.46% to 4.66, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 2.04% to settle at 58.000 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 2.02% to close at 74.310.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 5.21% to 29.320 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 2.76% to settle at 28.870 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.25% to 38.175 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 4.52% to 5.967, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 2.54% to settle at 3.548 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 1.69% to close at 15.935.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 2.02% to 44.480 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 1.77% to settle at 13.310 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 1.38% to 9.180 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 504 to 369 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.57% to 18.78.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.16% or 1.95 to $1225.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.72% or 0.33 to hit $45.90 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.32 to trade at $46.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.0655, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8551.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 100.64.
