Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Banking and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.33%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.41%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH), which rose 4.51% or 6.55 points to trade at 151.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) added 2.96% or 6.65 points to end at 231.65 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 2.43% or 0.08 points to 3.33 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AXA SA (PA:AXAF), which fell 4.92% or 1.08 points to trade at 20.89 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) declined 4.28% or 1.12 points to end at 25.14 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was down 3.44% or 0.298 points to 8.355.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) which rose 4.51% to 151.75, Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) which was up 2.96% to settle at 231.65 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) which gained 2.73% to close at 317.70.
The worst performers were CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 8.57% to 0.64 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 6.54% to settle at 27.005 and Adocia (PA:ADOC) which was down 5.53% to 53.520 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 498 to 186 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.44% or 0.298 to 8.355. Shares in CGG (PA:GEPH) fell to all time lows; losing 8.57% or 0.06 to 0.64.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.01% to 30.13.
Gold for April delivery was up 1.13% or 12.70 to $1139.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 5.27% or 1.57 to hit $31.45 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 4.80% or 1.57 to trade at $34.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.37% to 1.1067, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7597.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.39% at 97.50.
