Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 2.55%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA), which fell 0.09% or 0.0020 points to trade at 2.1510 at the close. Meanwhile, CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT) fell 0.45% or 0.0420 points to end at 9.1920 and Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) was down 1.49% or 0.01 points to 0.73 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Semapa (LISBON:SEM), which fell 4.69% or 0.6100 points to trade at 12.3850 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) declined 4.62% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.2480 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) was down 3.65% or 0.0023 points to 0.0607.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 45 to 6 and 1 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 8.72% or 4.72 to $49.43 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 7.90% or 3.88 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.64% or 7.20 to trade at $1139.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.71% to 1.1293, while EUR/GBP rose 0.97% to 0.7378.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 95.47.
