Investing.com – Philippines equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking & Financials, Holding Firms and Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite declined 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Energy Development Corp (PS:EDC), which rose 1.81% or 0.100 points to trade at 5.630 at the close. Security Bank Corp (PS:SECB) added 1.71% or 3.49 points to end at 207.40 and Ayala Land Inc (PS:ALI) was up 1.44% or 0.500 points to 35.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Globe Telecom Inc (PS:GLO), which lost 5.20% or 90.000 points to trade at 1640.000 in late trade. Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc (PS:AEV) declined 2.34% or 1.800 points to end at 75.100 and Jollibee Foods Corp (PS:JFC) shed 1.96% or 4.600 points to 230.400.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 88 and 46 ended unchanged on the Philippines Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.25% or 16.25 to $1288.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.63% or 0.72 to hit $44.79 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.36% or 0.62 to trade at $46.20 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was up 0.07% to 7.1804, while USD/PHP rose 0.20% to 48.640.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.79% at 97.71.
