Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Rosneft (MCX:ROSN), which rose 3.28% or 8.45 points to trade at 266.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 3.26% or 1.69 points to end at 53.53 and Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) was up 1.59% or 1.20 points to 76.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which fell 3.96% or 0.890 points to trade at 21.580 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 3.41% or 2.58 points to end at 73.00 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was down 3.23% or 19.90 points to 596.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 122 to 82 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.26% or 1.69 to 53.53.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.09% to 36.670.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.29% or 3.20 to $1085.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.71% or 1.20 to hit $43.01 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.83% or 1.36 to trade at $46.74 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.26% to 65.281, while EUR/RUB rose 1.32% to 70.017.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 99.18.
