United Arab Emirates stocks higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.75%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Sunday, as gains in the Insurance, Transport and Banking sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.75%, while the ADX General index gained 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 8.48% or 0.140 points to trade at 1.790 at the close. Meanwhile, AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) added 4.31% or 0.090 points to end at 2.180 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 3.63% or 0.014 points to 0.400 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which fell 2.22% or 2.00 points to trade at 88.00 at the close. Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) declined 2.04% or 0.012 points to end at 0.577 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was down 1.82% or 0.007 points to 0.377.

The top performers on the ADX General were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which rose 15.00% to 1.61, Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which was up 3.45% to settle at 3.90 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which gained 3.39% to close at 6.10.

The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 5.56% to 1.80 in late trade, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which lost 2.04% to settle at 0.480 and Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 1.47% to 3.35 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 18 to 9; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 rose and 11 declined, while 2 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.22% or 2.00 to 88.00. Shares in Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.56% or 0.10 to 1.80.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.65% or 0.62 to $38.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.49% or 0.56 to hit $37.91 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.68% or 7.30 to trade at $1075.60 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED unchanged 0.00% to 4.0284.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 98.02.
