Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 2.62% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Autohellas (AT:AUTr), which rose 9.93% or 0.98 points to trade at 10.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr) added 5.07% or 0.03 points to end at 0.52 and Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) was up 3.85% or 0.05 points to 1.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr), which fell 9.89% or 0.079 points to trade at 0.720 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) declined 7.14% or 0.019 points to end at 0.247 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) was down 6.41% or 0.005 points to 0.073.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 68 to 28 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.49% or 5.30 to $1081.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.79% or 0.85 to hit $31.33 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.67% or 0.51 to trade at $30.68 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.0849, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.7542.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.35% at 99.27.
