Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 1.14% or 0.06 points to trade at 5.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 0.89% or 0.88 points to end at 99.72 and Befimmo-Sicafi (BR:BEFBb) was up 0.27% or 0.150 points to 56.110 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which fell 4.89% or 1.52 points to trade at 29.56 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 2.97% or 2.85 points to end at 93.01 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was down 1.52% or 0.56 points to 36.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 113 to 46 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.06% or 11.40 to $1089.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.45% or 1.60 to hit $34.37 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 4.85% or 1.76 to trade at $34.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.0759, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.7360.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 99.46.
