Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 5.52% or 3.130 points to trade at 59.790 at the close. Meanwhile, MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 2.83% or 23.00 points to end at 836.00 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) was up 2.35% or 1.000 points to 43.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTA), which fell 5.23% or 25 points to trade at 453 at the close. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) declined 4.23% or 1.920 points to end at 43.430 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was down 3.69% or 11.80 points to 308.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 129 to 90 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.47% to 45.330.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.27% or 14.00 to $1119.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 5.17% or 1.57 to hit $31.91 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 5.45% or 1.71 to trade at $33.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.02% to 79.029, while EUR/RUB fell 2.79% to 84.445.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 99.23.
