Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.56%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.32% or 0.17 points to trade at 3.29 at the close. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) added 5.19% or 1.78 points to end at 36.16 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 5.16% or 4.06 points to 82.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which lost 3.43% or 0.735 points to trade at 20.685 in late trade. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 0.83% or 0.53 points to end at 63.54 and Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) shed 0.82% or 0.046 points to 5.584.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 10.33% to 9.68, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 8.62% to settle at 4.57 and Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which gained 8.26% to close at 2.49.
The worst performers were Havas (PA:HAVA) which was down 4.02% to 6.687 in late trade, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) which lost 3.43% to settle at 20.685 and Teleperformance (PA:ROCH) which was down 2.43% to 70.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 486 to 202 and 90 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 5.93% to 28.21.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.40% or 17.30 to $1221.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.87% or 0.62 to hit $33.69 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.52% or 0.89 to trade at $36.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.85% to 1.0924, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.7876.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.75% at 98.17.
