Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa), which rose 0.89% or 0.20 points to trade at 22.59 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 0.86% or 0.04 points to end at 4.23 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.84% or 0.12 points to 14.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever NV (AS:UNc), which lost 1.47% or 0.58 points to trade at 38.77 in late trade. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 1.45% or 0.26 points to end at 17.28 and NN Group (AS:NN) shed 1.20% or 0.35 points to 28.83.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 63 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.95% to 21.71.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.96% or 0.46 to $48.18 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.59% or 0.29 to hit $49.26 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.25% or 3.15 to trade at $1277.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.7829.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 94.39.
