Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 4.28% or 3.02 points to trade at 73.53 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 3.87% or 0.0625 points to end at 1.6795 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) was up 2.41% or 22.0 points to 934.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTA), which lost 3.08% or 14 points to trade at 441 in late trade. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 2.91% or 0.0023 points to end at 0.0753 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) shed 2.38% or 64.0 points to 2630.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 111 to 106 and 27 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.38% to 34.090 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.80% or 10.00 to $1244.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.53% or 0.22 to hit $41.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.11 to trade at $41.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.62% to 67.9454, while EUR/RUB fell 0.69% to 76.390.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.34.
