Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.41% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which rose 5.02% or 30.5 points to trade at 638.0 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 4.16% or 1.080 points to end at 27.050 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was up 3.55% or 99.0 points to 2886.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which lost 1.12% or 7.10 points to trade at 628.90 in late trade. E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) declined 1.09% or 0.0270 points to end at 2.4430 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) shed 0.83% or 1.35 points to 161.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 126 to 79 and 29 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.35% to 43.150.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.37% or 17.00 to $1258.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.14% or 0.05 to hit $34.61 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.02 to trade at $36.95 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.26% to 73.2144, while EUR/RUB rose 0.60% to 80.033.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.54% at 97.67.
