Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Footwear & Textile and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which rose 22.24% or 300.20 points to trade at 1650.00 at the close. Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) added 20.88% or 475.00 points to end at 2750.00 and Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) was up 18.38% or 11.10 points to 71.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC (CM:SOY), which lost 10.13% or 47.90 points to trade at 425.10 in late trade. Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL) declined 9.88% or 8.00 points to end at 73.00 and Lucky Lanka Milk Processing Company Ltd (CM:LLMP) shed 7.69% or 0.30 points to 3.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 115 to 69 and 45 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.26% or 0.13 to $49.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.54% or 0.27 to hit $49.68 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.46% or 5.55 to trade at $1211.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.33% to 216.515, while USD/LKR rose 0.64% to 148.100.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.72.
