Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Energy and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Boryszew SA (WA:BORY), which rose 1.71% or 0.09 points to trade at 5.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) added 1.45% or 0.09 points to end at 6.29 and Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) was up 1.25% or 0.38 points to 30.67 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which fell 9.38% or 1.43 points to trade at 13.81 at the close. KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM) declined 4.36% or 3.92 points to end at 85.97 and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) was down 3.03% or 4.90 points to 156.68.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 289 to 252 and 108 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 3.16% or 1.48 to $45.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.78% or 0.88 to hit $48.20 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.85% or 20.70 to trade at $1137.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.07% to 4.2027, while USD/PLN rose 0.53% to 3.6973.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 94.87.
