Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Forestry & Paper and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 3.55% or 7.50 points to trade at 218.90 at the close. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) added 3.12% or 32.00 points to end at 1059.00 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.95% or 17.50 points to 610.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML), which lost 7.51% or 16.30 points to trade at 200.60 in late trade. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 6.19% or 47.00 points to end at 712.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 3.41% or 43.00 points to 1219.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1107 to 903 and 414 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1245.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $50.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.17 to trade at $53.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.49% to 1.2530, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8536.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 100.20.
