Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.33% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 2.96% or 1.82 points to trade at 63.39 at the close. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) added 1.62% or 0.33 points to end at 20.39 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was up 1.27% or 1.00 points to 79.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 1.59% or 0.38 points to trade at 23.52 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.12% or 0.23 points to end at 20.82 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 0.93% or 0.050 points to 5.319.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 49 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.30% to 10.14.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.10% or 0.05 to $48.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.75 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.15 to trade at $1229.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.0749, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8676.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 100.07.
