Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.17% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 1.28% or 1.40 points to trade at 110.85 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 1.18% or 0.54 points to end at 46.11 and Elia (BR:ELI) was up 1.00% or 0.475 points to 47.885 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which lost 0.51% or 0.075 points to trade at 14.545 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 0.49% or 0.10 points to end at 20.46 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 0.39% or 0.09 points to 22.88.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 59 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.17% or 2.05 to $1203.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.29% or 0.14 to hit $48.35 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $51.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.0661, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.8718.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 101.17.
