Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which rose 1.28% or 0.64 points to trade at 50.10 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 0.91% or 0.25 points to end at 27.75 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was up 0.73% or 0.58 points to 80.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 1.17% or 0.34 points to trade at 28.71 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.20% or 0.130 points to end at 65.040 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 0.06% or 0.04 points to 68.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 48 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.02% or 0.25 to $1238.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.28% or 0.15 to hit $53.93 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.27 to trade at $56.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.0619, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8522.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 100.86.
