Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 0.03% or 0.02 points to trade at 66.52 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) fell 0.18% or 0.07 points to end at 41.38 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was down 0.21% or 0.11 points to 53.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 1.42% or 1.55 points to trade at 107.70 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.38% or 0.40 points to end at 28.14 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) shed 1.28% or 1.65 points to 127.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 42 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.89% or 10.85 to $1231.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.06% or 0.57 to hit $53.26 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 0.76 to trade at $56.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.0734, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8626.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 100.07.
