Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR), which rose 1.37% or 0.0450 points to trade at 3.3200 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 0.90% or 0.0350 points to end at 3.9290 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 0.85% or 0.1350 points to 16.0600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which lost 2.81% or 0.1770 points to trade at 6.1230 in late trade. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) declined 2.77% or 0.0234 points to end at 0.8220 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) shed 2.46% or 0.0180 points to 0.7140.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 18 to 16 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 1.67% or 0.92 to $56.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.36% or 0.71 to hit $52.96 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.45 to trade at $1201.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.0661, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.8735.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.68% at 101.01.
