Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Textile and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Infodisc Tech (TW:2491), which rose 9.98% or 0.63 points to trade at 6.94 at the close. Taita Chemical (TW:1309) added 9.98% or 0.88 points to end at 9.70 and Everspring Ind (TW:2390) was up 9.94% or 1.60 points to 17.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.73% or 0.33 points to trade at 3.06 in late trade. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 4.75% or 0.190 points to end at 3.810 and First Steamshi (TW:2601) shed 4.70% or 0.37 points to 7.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 429 to 337 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.25% or 0.62 to $50.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.33% or 0.69 to hit $52.53 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.50 to trade at $1177.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 31.882, while TWD/CNY rose 0.42% to 0.2159.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 101.30.
