Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Transportation and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 lost 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Wolseley PLC (LONDON:WOS), which rose 2.21% or 93.00 points to trade at 4300.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Admiral Group PLC (LONDON:ADML) added 2.15% or 31.00 points to end at 1471.00 and Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) was up 1.64% or 19.00 points to 1181.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which fell 1.65% or 2.85 points to trade at 170.00 at the close. St. James`s Place PLC (LONDON:SJP) declined 1.53% or 15.00 points to end at 965.00 and BHP Billiton PLC (LONDON:BLT) was down 1.44% or 16.50 points to 1133.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1368 to 1181 and 465 ended unchanged.
Shares in Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) fell to all time lows; losing 1.65% or 2.85 to 170.00.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.48% or 5.30 to $1118.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.37% or 0.16 to hit $42.95 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.04 to trade at $49.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.34% to 1.5587, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7104.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 96.85.
