Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 1.16% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 1.45% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.70 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 0.72% or 0.10 points to end at 13.90 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 95.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 9.27% or 0.140 points to trade at 1.380 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 6.81% or 0.32 points to end at 4.38 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) shed 3.22% or 0.77 points to 23.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 17 and 45 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.10% or 0.46 to $41.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.95% or 0.42 to hit $43.87 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.58% or 21.65 to trade at $1345.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.13% to 355.820, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 322.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 96.12.
