Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.00%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 3.38% or 0.47 points to trade at 14.51 at the close. Danone SA (PA:DANO) added 3.34% or 2.05 points to end at 63.41 and Sodexo (PA:EXHO) was up 2.54% or 2.40 points to 96.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which lost 2.26% or 0.25 points to trade at 10.81 in late trade. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 2.04% or 0.54 points to end at 25.93 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 1.42% or 0.059 points to 4.091.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 5.48% to 10.97, Edenred (PA:EDEN) which was up 5.17% to settle at 18.50 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which gained 4.27% to close at 26.275.
The worst performers were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 5.03% to 93.07 in late trade, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which lost 2.26% to settle at 10.81 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) which was down 2.04% to 25.93 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 455 to 195 and 122 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 9.31% to 24.05.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.58% or 7.65 to $1319.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.19% or 1.09 to hit $48.79 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.30% or 1.18 to trade at $50.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1070, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.8346.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.22.
