Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Information Technology, Footwear & Textile and Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 1.24% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI), which rose 23.45% or 34.00 points to trade at 179.00 at the close. eChannelling PLC (CM:ECL) added 21.95% or 1.80 points to end at 10.00 and Ceylon Tea Brokers PLC (CM:CEYL) was up 21.87% or 0.70 points to 3.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 19.66% or 511.10 points to trade at 2089.00 in late trade. Elpitiya Plantations PLC (CM:ELPL) declined 8.53% or 1.80 points to end at 19.30 and Samson International PLC (CM:SIL) shed 8.04% or 9.00 points to 103.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.38% or 0.58 to $41.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.94% or 0.42 to hit $44.27 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.21% or 15.30 to trade at $1245.60 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.63% to 207.415, while USD/LKR rose 0.38% to 145.385.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 94.58.
