Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Glass, Cement & Glass and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.19% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Shun On (TW:6283), which rose 10.00% or 0.42 points to trade at 4.62 at the close. Htc Corp (TW:2498) added 10.00% or 9.00 points to end at 99.00 and China Electric (TW:1611) was up 9.99% or 0.88 points to 9.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sunonwealth (TW:2421), which lost 8.57% or 2.00 points to trade at 21.35 in late trade. Coadna (TW:4984) declined 6.42% or 3.50 points to end at 51.00 and C Sun Mfg (TW:2467) shed 4.43% or 0.70 points to 15.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 434 to 335 and 84 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.92% or 0.69 to $36.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.76% or 0.68 to hit $39.40 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.57% or 7.30 to trade at $1263.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.54% to 32.736, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1994.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 97.35.
