Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 2.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Iaso (AT:IASr), which rose 26.08% or 0.103 points to trade at 0.498 at the close. Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) added 14.01% or 0.09 points to end at 0.76 and Corinth Pipe (AT:CORr) was up 12.06% or 0.092 points to 0.855 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hellenic Telec (AT:OTEr), which lost 1.91% or 0.15 points to trade at 7.69 in late trade. Greek Organisation of Football Prognostics SA (AT:OPAr) declined 1.53% or 0.100 points to end at 6.450 and Bank of Cyprus PCL (AT:BOCr) shed 0.69% or 0.001 points to 0.144.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 29 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.22% or 15.20 to $1257.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.04% or 0.36 to hit $35.02 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.18 to trade at $37.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.64% to 1.0939, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.7732.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 97.71.
