Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Plastic and Chemical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.46% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were X-Legend (TW:4994), which rose 9.86% or 5.80 points to trade at 64.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Cybertan (TW:3062) added 9.82% or 1.65 points to end at 18.45 and Hitron Tech (TW:2419) was up 9.76% or 1.80 points to 20.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which fell 10.00% or 0.19 points to trade at 1.71 at the close. Highwealth Con (TW:2542) declined 8.01% or 2.55 points to end at 29.30 and Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) was down 7.41% or 0.40 points to 5.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 523 to 318 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Highwealth Con (TW:2542) fell to 3-years lows; losing 8.01% or 2.55 to 29.30. Shares in Hitron Tech (TW:2419) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.76% or 1.80 to 20.25.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.83% or 0.23 to $28.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.49% or 0.14 to hit $27.69 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.30% or 3.30 to trade at $1102.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.10% to 33.788, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1947.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 99.06.
