Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Transport, Optoelectronic and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Coadna (TW:4984), which rose 10.00% or 4.35 points to trade at 47.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 10.00% or 1.10 points to end at 12.10 and Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) was up 10.00% or 0.25 points to 2.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Entie Bank (TW:2849), which fell 10.00% or 2.00 points to trade at 18.00 at the close. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 4.54% or 1.40 points to end at 29.45 and Hota Ind (TW:1536) was down 3.91% or 5.00 points to 123.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 523 to 318 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Coadna (TW:4984) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 4.35 to 47.85.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.93% or 0.34 to $35.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.68% or 0.25 to hit $36.41 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.38% or 4.00 to trade at $1069.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 32.834, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1975.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 98.67.
