Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Retail, Telecoms and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 16.12% or 0.039 points to trade at 0.281 at the close. Meanwhile, Centric Hold (AT:DESr) added 14.13% or 0.013 points to end at 0.105 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 14.00% or 0.04 points to 0.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR), which fell 8.78% or 0.52 points to trade at 5.40 at the close. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) declined 8.26% or 0.09 points to end at 1.00 and Athens Water (AT:EYDr) was down 6.82% or 0.32 points to 4.37.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 68 to 36 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.30% or 3.20 to $1060.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.98% or 0.72 to hit $37.03 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.40% or 0.54 to trade at $38.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.0926, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.7260.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 98.23.
