Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Non-Metal Minerals, Power and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.78% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (T:5232), which rose 8.69% or 41.0 points to trade at 513.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (T:1925) added 8.09% or 242.0 points to end at 3232.0 and Terumo Corp. (T:4543) was up 5.19% or 190.0 points to 3850.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsumi Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6767), which fell 15.46% or 115.0 points to trade at 629.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) declined 14.60% or 182.0 points to end at 1065.0 and Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T:6703) was down 7.60% or 13.0 points to 158.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1315 to 558.
Shares in Mitsumi Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6767) fell to 52-week lows; down 15.46% or 115.0 to 629.0. Shares in Terumo Corp. (T:4543) rose to 3-years highs; up 5.19% or 190.0 to 3850.0. Shares in Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T:6703) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.60% or 13.0 to 158.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.24% to 22.26 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.70% or 0.32 to $45.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $48.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.43% or 4.70 to trade at $1108.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 121.90, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 132.49.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 98.21.
