Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which rose 6.10% or 49.30 points to trade at 856.95 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.38% or 5.05 points to end at 154.60 and Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) was up 3.10% or 5.10 points to 169.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which lost 1.47% or 35.40 points to trade at 2378.00 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) declined 1.39% or 6.40 points to end at 454.75 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) shed 1.30% or 1.10 points to 83.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which rose 3.32% to 154.05, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 2.39% to settle at 257.35 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which gained 2.27% to close at 3538.60.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.49% to 2377.65 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 1.01% to settle at 591.95 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 0.77% to 327.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 967 to 501 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1660 rose and 1037 declined, while 226 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 9.90% to 13.3400.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.42% or 5.55 to $1336.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.04% or 0.47 to hit $45.81 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.44 to trade at $47.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 66.718, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 74.9640.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.16.
