Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (T:8801), which rose 3.82% or 69.0 points to trade at 1874.5 at the close. Tokyu Fudosan (T:3289) added 3.80% or 17.0 points to end at 464.0 and NEC Corp. (T:6701) was up 3.66% or 200.0 points to 5660.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which lost 2.94% or 160.0 points to trade at 5290.0 in late trade. Sony Corp (T:6758) declined 2.76% or 242.0 points to end at 8526.0 and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (T:5232) shed 2.21% or 80.0 points to 3545.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1964 to 1512 and 218 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 22.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.60% or 0.26 to $42.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.70% or 0.32 to hit $45.14 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.78% or 15.70 to trade at $1997.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.09% to 105.52, while EUR/JPY rose 0.12% to 125.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 92.323.
