Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 3.84% or 1.27 points to trade at 34.32 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 2.44% or 0.15 points to end at 6.30 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 2.40% or 0.34 points to 14.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which lost 4.71% or 0.80 points to trade at 16.20 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 4.27% or 0.54 points to end at 12.11 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) shed 3.92% or 0.28 points to 6.87.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 180 to 180 and 33 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.93% to 32.28.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.21% or 2.65 to $1246.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $44.87 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.94% or 1.18 to trade at $126.33 .
USD/BRL was up 0.66% to 3.3026, while EUR/BRL rose 1.28% to 3.7788.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 95.29.
