Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 1.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 9.90% or 2.07 points to trade at 22.97 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 8.33% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 4.98% or 1.54 points to 32.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which lost 9.74% or 3.98 points to trade at 36.87 in late trade. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 4.92% or 3.52 points to end at 67.98 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 4.69% or 0.030 points to 0.610.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 46 to 42 and 21 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.47% or 0.21 to $44.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.23% or 0.11 to hit $47.65 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 2.75 to trade at $1246.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.45% to 359.580, while USD/NGN fell 9.93% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 95.38.
