Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Leasing & Factoring and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Odas Elektrik (IS:ODAS), which rose 4.49% or 0.320 points to trade at 7.450 at the close. Torunlar Gmyo (IS:TRGYO) added 4.17% or 0.20 points to end at 5.00 and AK Enerji (IS:AKENR) was up 4.07% or 0.050 points to 1.280 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vakiflar Bankasi (IS:VAKBN), which lost 3.30% or 0.170 points to trade at 4.980 in late trade. Tekfen Holding (IS:TKFEN) declined 2.79% or 0.17 points to end at 5.92 and Celebi (IS:CLEBI) shed 2.53% or 0.80 points to 30.78.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 197 to 141 and 73 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.62% or 7.75 to $1251.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.73% or 0.32 to hit $44.36 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.42 to trade at $46.00 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.29% to 2.8304, while EUR/TRY rose 0.52% to 3.2058.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 94.37.
