Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.54% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR), which rose 2.40% or 0.0200 points to trade at 0.8520 at the close. NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 1.74% or 11.60 points to end at 680.00 and Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP) was up 1.43% or 1.74 points to 123.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR), which lost 1.70% or 6 points to trade at 347 in late trade. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 1.63% or 1.330 points to end at 80.300 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) shed 1.41% or 2.60 points to 181.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 115 to 110 and 13 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 4.19% to 17.400.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.74 to $1276.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.80% or 0.90 to hit $50.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.19% or 1.22 to trade at $57.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.32% to 57.4980, while EUR/RUB fell 0.83% to 67.3100.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 93.73.
